(Please also see the attached formal Job Description) Main role and purpose of the post The Nursing Associate will: Be a member of the clinical team. Demonstrate evidence based knowledge in the main physical health problems that adult patients may present with e.e., high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, epilepsy, respoiratory issues, constipation, lack of personal hygiene, including foot care. Demonstrate an ability to undertake baseline physical observations and record results correctly. In addition, be able to identify anomalies that should be referred to a first level nurse or one of the medical staff.
**Baseline observations include**: Phlebotomy Blood Pressure Pulse Respirations Weight Height Elimination pattern Eating pattern Sleep pattern Glucose monitoring Demonstrate an ability to complete ongoing monitoring templates. Ability to carry out a full health assessment with support from other members of the MDT. Perform New Patient Health Checks, in accordance with local protocols. Perform Cervical Screening Wound Management Refer patients to other clinicians as necessary Provide routine clinical care to patients according to locally approved protocols, under supervision of the Registered Practice Nurse.
Specific Responsibilities Understand the principles of healthy living and provide relevant health promotion literature ot patients. Assist clinicians in the emergency management of patients. Collect patient data such as blood pressure, height, weight and eCG in accordance with service protocols and your competence to operate the necessary equipment. Record data on patient electronic records in an accurate and timely manner.
Summarise patient notes and provide administrative assistance to the nursing team. Provide smoking cessation support to patients in accordance with your training and protocols. Run Blood Pressure clinics if required. Provide cervical screening in accordance with service protocol on patients who have been recalled.
