Within the Corporate Nursing Team, we are seeking to recruit a passionate and committed nurse/ midwife to grow our shared decision-making (SDM) model within the Trust and coordinate the strategic overview of this. This post is a 12 month secondment.

Lead by facilitating staff throughout the organisation to develop and sustain a shared decision making culture through education, training and ongoing support.

Identify areas for development and improvement in the shared governance leadership model and be proactive in identifying strategies for change.

Lead audit and research and the measurement of the impact of shared governance and shared decision-making councils across the Trust.

Work collaboratively within the Quality Framework team to lead and develop a model for the implementation and the running of the Shared Decision-Making Councils.

Support the wider work of the Quality Framework programme.

Ensure that professional standards are implemented and embedded in nursing, midwifery and AHP practice through effective communication skills

Lead by facilitating staff throughout the organisation to develop and sustain a shared
decision-making culture through education, training, and ongoing support.
- Identify areas for development and improvement in the shared decision-making

leadership model and be proactive in identifying strategies for change.
- Lead audit and research and the measurement of the impact of shared decision-making and shared decision-making councils across the Trust.
- Work collaboratively within the Lead Nurse Quality Framework and develop a model

for the implementation and the running of the Shared Decision-Making Councils.
- Support the wider work of the Quality Framework programme including supporting the

CNO Fellows.
- Ensure that the NMC standards are implemented and embedded in nursing and

midwifery practice through effective communication skills

Leading Nursing and Midwifery Excellence
- Act as a role model for standards of care and professionalism
- Lead and support staff to develop a model of Shared Governance and Shared Decision-Making Councils throughout the Trust
- Identify training and development needs of individual members of the shared decision-making councils and plan, deliver, and evaluate training programmes to enable staff to fulfil council roles effectively
- Appropriately escalate capacity and capability concerns to the relevant clinical manager and provide ongoing support throughout the process
- Provide training and support to facilitate the transition into a model of shared decision-making
- Lead staff to interpret practice outcomes and identify relevant development opportunities as they arise
- Demonstrate analytical and judgmental skills in working alongside the shared decision-making council members to assess issues that may arise and identify strategies to

determine the best course of action
- Maximise available resources to support the culture of shared decision-making
- Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines as required
- Share good practice and innovation with colleagues internally and externally
- Ensure all shared decision-making council meetings have summary reports completed in line with governance expectations.
- Promote reflective practice, supervision, experiential learning opportunities to develop a learning culture in the clinical environment
- Works with clinical leaders to review team composition and obstacles to successfully creating and embedding a shared decision-making approach

Research & Development
- Promote and practice evidence-based nursing and midwifery care throughout the Trust
- Promote clinical practice in line with relevant research
- Utilise evidence-based practice to ensure effective delivery and innovation of the shared decision-making model
- Actively participate in service evaluation and audit of clinical practice to ensure effective delivery of the shared decision-making programme
