This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our Operations Team to successfully drive and take ownership of the health and safety performance of the company. With a proportionate and pragmatic approach to risk control, you will be responsible for coordinating and prioritising health, safety and wellbeing activities across the company while motivating and influencing others’ behaviour towards safety and supporting managers in ensuring a safe working environment at a consistently high level.

**Main Tasks & Responsibilities**
- Ensure health and safety remain the number one priority for FT Technologies
- Drive health and safety standards within FT, assess risks and advise on control measures, coordinating H&S activities across the company
- Ensure working practices and the facility are as safe as reasonably practicable and comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and requirements as a minimum
- Manage COVID19 exposure
- Manage an H&S Schedule and conduct daily/weekly/monthly/annual inspections as appropriate
- Carry out accident and incident investigation/reporting when required, in line with company policy and with the support of departmental managers
- Conduct audits and inspections as required
- Conduct general risk assessments, including noise, workstation, welfare, and COSHH assessments. Maintain the risk assessment register, ensuring timely reviews are carried out
- Develop and issue H&S policies and procedures, taking on process owner responsibility
- Oversee H&S aspects of all FT projects, ensuring contractors, suppliers and staff conform to CDM regulations where applicable
- Monitor and help to work towards improving H&S KPIs
- Work with the HR department to raise awareness of mental health
- Help co-ordinate H&S-related occupational health visits
- Carry out regular H&S inspections with department managers/safety representatives, complete reports and circulate findings and actions
- Develop H&S training courses, including induction. Schedule training program and deliver to staff
- Attend H&S committee meetings, taking minutes, adding actions to the H&S tracker
- Manage H&S permits
- Ensure there are adequately trained First Aiders and Fire Marshals
- Monitor and investigate near misses and accidents
- Identify areas of improvement
**Education and Training**
- Educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent
- Membership of CMIOSH preferred, NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum
- Internal Auditor certification preferred
**Skills, Ability and Experience**
- Proven ability to ensure health and safety practices are maintained throughout an organisation
- Experience in a similar role
- Effective use of delivering a health and safety programme
- Experience in coordinating a Health & Safety initiative, UK H&S Legislation, fire safety, risk management, COSHH assessments, managing incident investigations and H&S Training
- Experience with ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems an advantage
- Experience of working in a manufacturing or engineering type environment is essential
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (including Outlook, Word and Excel)
