**Key Responsibilities for Youth Worker**:

- To work directly with young people 8-11 and 12-18 years to enable their personal development and social education by assisting in the development and delivery of structured open access, small group and occasional targeted youth sessions.
- To act as a positive role model and mentor to young people, in line with our Public Health contract.
- To support Lead Youth Worker to plan, deliver and evaluate activities delivered within youth sessions.
- To establish and build relationships with young people to design, deliver and continually evaluate youth sessions that will contribute to meeting the identified needs of the group.
- To be aware of service targets and outcomes and ensure that the youth sessions make a positive contribution to achieving them.
- To encourage, motivate and support staff, students, and volunteers.
- To contribute to relevant day-to-day administration in support of the smooth

running of the project and the procedures of the Trust.

Skills and experience needed for the Youth Worker:
**Experience
- essential**
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Clear understanding of Equal Opportunities practice
- Safeguarding with Children/Young People
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to establish positive relationships with Children/Young People.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team when delivering programs and activities
- Experience or understanding of adhering to GDPR and Safeguarding principles
- Understanding of need for ability to maintain confidentiality in all areas of work
- Commitment to WCT values and willing to act as role models.
- Flexible with regards to role and working hours
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
- Undertake enhanced DBS check.
- Commitment to CPD: To attend and participate in regular supervisions, meetings and training courses and share and implement knowledge and skills gained.
- Respect for others and acting with integrity are important values to you.

**Experience - desirable**
- Level 2 in Youth work or other relevant professional experience
- Level 2 food safety
- Evidence of a good general education GCSE maths and English grade C or above
- Experience of working with volunteers.
- The ability to work under challenging circumstances with young people who have become disengaged
- Other interests, skills, or experience that might enhance the youth work programme
- Experience of the voluntary sector
- Knowledge of local community
- Experience of working with children/young people from diverse backgrounds
- The ability to travel between centers.
