**Permanent, Part Time 10 hours per week.**
At Bristol City Council we believe every child and young person in care should have a voice that is heard, respected, and valued. We are committed to empowering children and young people to influence decisions that affect their lives. We are currently looking for a passionate and motivated Participation Worker to help amplify these voices and create positive change in the care system.
As a Participation Worker, you will support the involvement of children and young people in care in decisions about their care and wider services. You will facilitate engagement through various forums, activities, and events, ensuring young people have opportunities to express their views, share experiences, and co-create solutions with decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Facilitate the Children in Care Council**: Organise and support regular meetings and activities where children and young people can share their views and influence care policies and practices.
- **Promote Participation**: Encourage and enable children and young people to get involved, ensuring their voices are at the heart of service improvement.
- **Collaboration**: Work with key stakeholders, including social care teams, local authorities, schools, and external partners, to ensure young people’s input is reflected in decision-making processes.
- **Safeguarding**: Promote and adhere to safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young people participating.
- **Co-production** work with the Children in Care Council to produce the R-Voice Magazine, a publication that informs other children and the workforce the activities of the Children in Care Councils.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about children’s rights and committed to making a difference in the lives of children in our care. You will be experienced in youth participation, social care, or advocacy work, and able to engage with young people in a way that builds trust, confidence, and self-expression.
PLEASE NOTE: This role will require flexibility as some of these activities are in the evening with occasional weekend work. You will also be required to work from various locations across the city.
**Prior experience in youth work is essential, and an Enhanced DBS Check is required for this role.**
