Are you looking for a change in career? Why not consider this opportunity to join the Central At Risk Mental State (ARMS) service for Newcastle and Gateshead.
The ARMS team work with young people between age 14 and 25, who are classed as having an 'at risk mental state'. An At Risk Mental State describes a cluster of experiences that research suggests is related to an increased risk of transitioning to a first episode of psychosis without intervention.
Our team works closely with the service users and their families over a 6 month period, during this time we offer a range of therapeutic inventions to support their recovery and mental health needs. With the aim of reducing the distress associated with attenuated or transient psychotic symptoms and reduce the number of transitions to psychosis.
This is an opportunity to be a part of a very supportive team, where your contribution and development are highly valued.
You will be involved in completing holistic assessments and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Care coordination is part of your role, however in ARMS we aim to keep caseloads to a manageable level. This enables clinicians to focus on quality interventions and increased clinical contact, with an emphasis on recovery.
Working in the At Risk Mental State (ARMS) service is an excellent opportunity for Community Practitioners to offer care and support on a recovery focused journey for people aged 14-25 years who have an 'at risk mental state'.
Opportunities for practitioners to develop or build on existing skills.
Practitioners will work with service users in overcoming any difficulties that they might have, help develop understanding about symptoms, support the development of new ways of coping and aid daily living skills.
To deliver evidenced based Clinical and Psychologically based Interventions.
Participation in duty rota and triaging new referrals.
To support health promotion of service users.
Promote a culture of learning, education and professional development - the team often has student nurses on placement.
Adhere to the principles of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust Policy and local reporting procedure.
To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessments, devise and implement risk management plans for clients, using the Biopsychosocial Risk Assessment Tool.
To undertake Comprehensive Assessment of At Risk Mental States (CAARMS).
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
We want you to be committed to ensuring that only the highest standards of care are delivered to our service users, their families and carers. In return one of our top priorities is looking after our staff so that we have a happy and healthy workforce.
You will need to be clinically experienced, solution focussed and competent in working with individuals, their families, and carers, in a community setting. You should have a collaborative and enthusiastic approach as well as the passion and commitment to develop and promote recovery based interventions for adults with mental health related needs.
CNTW are an organisation that prides itself on honesty & transparency to promote quality care every day.
The post holder will work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.
The ARMS team is made up of health professionals with a high level of training and experience in working with young people who are going through difficult times. The team includes a Clinical Psychologist, a Psychological Therapist, Mental Health Nurses, an Assistant Psychologist and a Consultant Psychiatrist.
