**Farnborough, Hampshire (1-2 days per week WFH / hybrid options)**

Operations Director required by a thriving cutting-edge technology company providing innovative secure-by-design on-prem and cloud solutions into the Defence & Security Sector. The Operations Director will be responsible for running and managing deliveryoperations as well as developing structures and processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

**A few details about the role**
As an Operations Director you will have a challenging, exciting, diverse and rewarding high-level role within the organisation. Some of your responsibilities will include:

- Run Delivery Operations
- Develop structure and processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Ensure that projects are resourced appropriately, meet customer needs and are delivered on time and to budget
- Understanding, at an appropriate level the relevant technology and security characteristics and solution options.
- Directing and overseeing project staff to ensure they are motivated to carry out responsibilities to the required standard
- Developing an understanding of customers’ operational and business environments
- Ensuring that the company’s organic and customer-facing IT support functions are delivered effectively and profitably
- Assisting with initial project design, pricing and resourcing
- Developing project-based Business Information and metrics, building on existing Project Control Sheets
- Ensuring that projects are delivered using the Agile methodology (or variants thereof)
- Running and reporting on weekly project reviews
- Overseeing project kick-offs and retrospectives (led by individual, nominated project leads)
- Coordinating project contracts and schedules, resources, equipment and information.
- Controlling project consumption and resources, coordinating closely with finance and commercial
- Ensuring that knowledge and experience are effectively shared across projects
- Ensuring the creation, maintenance and delivering of comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.
- Ensuring that project assurance is in place and operating effectively
- Where required, lead individual projects
- Contribute towards a fair, happy and fulfilling work environment
- Contribute towards strategy in areas of winning business to achieve short
- and long-term objectives

**What you will need**
- Excellent inter-personal and negotiating skills
- Extensive operations management experience
- In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles
- Analytical skills to evaluate data and performance/operation metrics
- Ability to operate at pace
- Experience of using Agile to deliver projects
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and leadership abilities

- Excellent decision-making skills
- Desirable: Security Clearance to SC Level with a willingness to undergo DV Level (Developed Vetting).
- Desirable: knowledge / experience of UK MOD / Armed Forces
- Desirable: Experience of delivering technical projects that encompass as many as the following as possible: Azure, VMware, DevOps, Network Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Kubernetes / K8S, Kafka, NiFi
