- A freight forwarder, or forwarding agent, is a person or company that organises shipments for individuals or companies to get goods from the manufacturer or producer to a market, customer, or destination.
- Freight forwarders can take the business to a whole new level by delivering the goods at the desired destination on time, saving money in the process compared to doing it in an unorganized manner.
- A freight forwarder comes to the rescue when the customer has little idea about international shipping standards and customs duties.
**Dimensions and Quantities**:
Working as part of the International Operations team based at our Nottinghamshire Head Office, the Trainee Freight Forwarder will be responsible for the delivery of an effective and efficient service to the business and to the International Operations Department.
**The role**:
- Provide admin and operational support to Operational Department, allowing Supervisor to pass operational work back to branch.
- Work closely with internal and external customers.
- Invoicing and job costing.
- Customs Entries.
- Assist in all aspects of the operation where/when required.
- Focus on customer service.Regular customer communication / meetings and business reviews.
- Ensure all reports including internal and customer specific are completed within the deadline.
- Resolve queries from customers and suppliers.
- Operate within companies Quality Assurance system.
- Any other tasks as directed by their Supervisor or line manager.
- Admin as required.
- Ensure Best Practice models are adopted throughout the department.
- All other tasks as requested by management.
**Applicant's profile**:
- Fully PC literate.
- Thorough understanding of customer needs.
- Knowledge of the freight forwarding industry would be preferred. (Not Essential).
- A knowledge and understanding of financials and impact on business.
- A Good knowledge of IT systems and processes used in the freight industry.
- Fluent in English to ensure for smooth operation of business.
**Required Behavioural Competencies**:
- Able to build credible relationships with others.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to plan and prioritise workloads.
- Ability to take responsibility for own workload.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic approach to work always.
- Team oriented.
**Years of experience in similar position**:
- Young graduate / Trainee / no professional experience.
Full training will be provided.
**Languages**:
- English (Fluent).
