Warehouse Section Leader

**Whats the opportunity?**

As a Section Leader, you will act as an advocate of the Gist culture, values, and safety standards. Your role will be to support the Warehouse Shift Managers with the smooth functioning of the Warehouse operation, ranging from picking, intake, out loading, and value-added operations. You are responsible for executing the essential tasks to ensure we meet and exceed our customers' expectations on a daily basis.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Provide clear communication and ongoing feedback to colleagues with clear examples and expected outcomes.
- Understand and deliver against the operational plan for that day, taking accountability for a specific operational area.
- Support with immediate resolution of safety concerns where appropriate and escalation of safety incidents, hazards or near misses.
- Act as an initial point of escalation for colleague concerns.
- Responsible for delivery of operational service KPIs.
- Coach colleagues to improve their performance and deliver key operational expectations.
- Support the induction of new starters and ongoing legal and operational training requirements for colleagues (with TWI’s).
- Allocate resource, delegate tasks and deal with day-to-day issues as necessary.
- Undertake colleague Return to Work interviews promptly and put in place initial supportive measures is required.
- Ensuring training and development needs are identified and reviewed frequently.
- Prioritise issues as necessary and rectify through to conclusion, ensuring colleagues are operating in a safe and legal environment at all times.
- Get involved and play your part in site and corporate initiatives.
- Create an environment where everyone can make suggestions and be heard. Act on colleague feedback.
- Ensuring compliance against Gist Health and Safety procedures.

**Who you’ll be**
- Have a good understanding of warehouse management systems.
- A good understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics.
- The ability to identify and evaluate potential risks and develop solutions.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- An innovative approach to leadership - being creative and implementing new ways to improve performance.
- A familiarity with working in a unionised environment.
