This role will suit someone who would like to provide support for a key stage 4 class, comprising students who have mixed, complex physical and medical needs. Part of your role will be to assist with personal care - so you must be comfortable doing this.
You will be with children who are non-verbal communicators, working collaboratively with the class teacher and up to 3 other support assistants. You will be a crucial component in the children’s sensory, social, speech, language and communication development.The school has fantastic facilities including light and dark sensory rooms, hydrotherapy, outdoor play and learning spaces and adaptable classroom resources.
- Will be able to assist with personal care throughout the day, including toileting and changing students
- Will be able to use hoist equipment for children in wheelchairs (or willing to go on training for this)
- Will be able to commit to working at this school full time, long term and potentially become a permanent member of staff in the future
- Will be committed to their own professional development, and will take every opportunity to attend training courses either at the school or through Teaching Personnel
- Will already be able to use PECs or Makaton, or be willing to learn
