MMP Consultancy currently have an opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor to join a local authority based in Dorking, Surrey. My client is looking for a surveyor who has experience working on commercial stock (non-residential).

My client can offer flexible working.

This will be an interim position for 6 months paying £40p/h Umbrella.

**Job Purpose**:
To provide a professional, efficient and effective Building Maintenance, Contract Management and Project Management Service for the Council.

To manage and control: Building Surveying, Contract Management and Project Management within the Maintenance and Compliance function and to deputise for the Maintenance & Compliance Manager as required.

To ensure statutory requirements are met and to keep appropriate records.

**Main Duties**:

- To provide professional advice to others on matters relating to Building Maintenance and Compliance to assist on the wider property role of the Council.
- Working with others to help maintain council property, assist with, plan and manage Minor Capital Works, taking into consideration health and safety, best value, best practice and sustainability.
- Ensure building condition surveys and regular inspections of Council property are carried out and proper records are maintained.
- To ensure that all necessary data is provided in an accurate, reliable and timely manner, and is fit for purpose in accordance with the Council's Data Protection Policies.
- To utilise the Council's asset management software
- To be aware of the Council's policy on Risk Management and to escalate any new, emerging or potential risks to their line manager.
- When applicable, directly manage staff appointed by the Property team, including consultants and agency staff. Staff management entails managing work plans, performance, appraisals, one to ones, training and absence.
- To deliver all Minor Works projects on time and to agreed levels of quality and value.
- To be aware of personal and professional development needs and to take responsibility for keeping up-to-date with current legislation and good practice.
- To observe contract standing orders.
- To assist in carrying out any duties relating to urgent/critical/crisis/emergency matters.
- To prepare reports for Committees or other forum as necessary and attend Council Committee meetings as and when required.
- Health and Safety - to work in accordance with the Council's commitment to provide a healthy and safe working environment including the promotion and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Any other duties as may be required by your manager as appropriate to the post.

**Personal Specification**:

- Demonstrable experience in building maintenance within a mixed-portfolio of both commercial and residential properties, including project management, condition surveys and maintenance contracts.
- Sound understanding of contracts and procurement procedures and processes including JCT Term and other standard forms of contract.
- Experience of contract management.
- Experience of working collaboratively with other members of the team and the organisation more widely at all levels.
- Experience of managing and co-ordinating others within a wider team, providing direction on work prioritisation in times of competing demands.
