**Young Peoples Service**
This service is 8 months old but has already started to make a significant difference within the city. The service is at the forefront of national thinking about what works for young people, especially those who are most at risk from contextual safeguarding issues and those people who are at risk of not being able to live within their families. The young person’s service brings together a range of already thriving teams, with strong and well-established local partnerships, to tackle the risks young people face in our communities and to safeguard, empower and inspire them to achieve their dreams. We are looking for social workers family engagement workers, missing exploitation and trafficked workers and youth workers who have an absolute passion for young people, really care about them and are prepared to go ‘the extra mile’ to help them. The service needs workers who understand the importance of both intervening early and managing risk.
The young person service works from the recently opened young person’s hub. This is a space in the civic centre designed by young people. We proud of this amazing facility which includes a common room and games area, a high specification kitchen, music recording studio and skills rooms for hair and beauty, barbering and a craft space. The services office space is integrated into this vibrant and buzzing environment.
We are looking for an inspirational person who can build relationships with young people who is able to work as part of a team to create safety, promote wellbeing and develop hope and aspiration for vulnerable young people in the city of Southampton.
The role will work with vulnerable adolescents aged 13-18 who are at risk of contextual safeguarding issues including child exploitation and where there is a risk of the young person not being able to live within their family.
We use a systemic practice model and approach and intensive training and coaching in this approach is available.
The post holder will be responsible for case work, have a case load, undertake group work and 1:1 intervention. The role will involve working as part of a team and as an individual practitioner.
