Job description
Are you driven by a commitment to end inequalities and make life fairer for people, wherever they live? Can you harness the power of words to change hearts and minds? And are you excited by the opportunities presented by devolved and local power to transform communities? If so, we have a role that will give you the chance to shape the future of the North and Scotland at this crucial time in the electoral cycle.
IPPR North, the leading think-tank for the north of England is recruiting a head of media and advocacy (maternity cover) to lead our communications and influencing activities at this exciting time. You will also support the media and communications of IPPR Scotland, the dedicated cross-party think tank for Scotland. Both organisations are part of IPPR, the UK’s leading progressive think tank.
Based at IPPR North, you will be joining a hugely impactful think tank that has made a big difference to the North. We are working towards a vision to ensure everyone, wherever they live, has the opportunity to live a good life, and where wealth, power and opportunity are available to everyone regardless of background or geography.
To help us realise our ambitions, as the head of media and advocacy - a senior colleague at IPPR North and a key player in the northern PR community - you will have the opportunity to give a voice to our aims to make the country a, to work with policymakers to transform our ideas into positive change, and to collaborate with and empower regional community groups and citizens.
We are excited to hear about the approach and skills you would bring to this important job. Whether your background is in journalism, communications, campaigns, advocacy or something else - this is an ideal role for someone who can think strategically and has experience of taking policies from idea to reality.
As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post, including secondment. All options can be discussed at interview stage. This post will be based in Manchester for two days per week, and will require occasional travel across the North, as well as to IPPR Scotland in Edinburgh and IPPR in London.
