IBK are supporting a family who are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and engaging PA to work with their son.

The role is to assist this young man, a sparkly and engaging seventeen year old who uses a wheelchair full time and has mild learning disabilities. This includes acting as his escort/assistant when out and about and also supporting him with his personal care needs.

Duties will include:

- Supporting him with his personal care needs in getting up in the mornings and going to bed in the evenings. This will involve hoisting and moving and handling. It will also involve personal and intimate care. Full training will be given in both of these aspects of the work.
- Accompanying him to go out and about, in the van or on the bus, and safeguarding him when out.
- Spending time with him in his home, engaging in activities which he enjoys, such as cooking, artwork, and music
- Preparing meals with and for him and washing up after those meals.
- Preparing and administering medication.
- Doing physiotherapy stretches with him.
- Any other duties your employer deems as being required.

There may be occasions when your employer may wish to negotiate additional support, for example support on holiday.

**Requirements**:
You will be required to understand your role in supporting this young man with his needs as defined by him and his parents. You must feel confident to ask him and his parents what these are and be able to listen and interpret these requests correctly. You must be able to listen to and respond to the young mans preferences, in consultation with his parents when necessary.

**Essential**

You must be responsible and reliable, a good timekeeper, and trustworthy.

You must have flexibility in your ability to work the hours expected of you and consideration of any additional hours on request.

You must have a good sense of humour, a sense of fun, imagination, and curiosity, and a patient and empathetic nature.

You must be willing to undertake all necessary training as required to carry out the duties of this post.

You must be willing to undergo a DBS check.

You must be in general good health.

**Desirable**

Experience of working with people with additional needs

Moving and handling training or relevant experience

Relevant experience of physiotherapy stretches

First Aid awareness training or relevant experience

Safeguarding training.

**Hours**:
Thursday morning 7am-8am
Friday evening, roughly 7pm-8pm
Saturday morning and evening, roughly 7-8pm and 9am-10am
Sunday morning, roughly 9-10am
Sunday evening, roughly 7-8pm.

There is some flexibility around these times (though Thursday morning does need to be before 8am).

There is an additional 8 hours which can then be negotiated for the right PA

These hours can be 1 post or split between 2 PA's.

Part-time hours: 8 per week
