Children's Residential Shift Leader

At Utopia we are passionate about caring for and supporting our young people to help them succeed. We do this by providing the highest standard of care in our Homes, making sure it is a stable, compassionate and calm environment to allow our young people to feel confident enough to make positive choices.
**Our Home**
Green Farm is a home for 4 young people providing medium to long-term residential care. Green Farm is a large farm house surrounded by fields in the small community of Hardwicke. We require an experienced and dedicated staff member to join our existing team.
**Our Young People**
Our young people are between the ages of 8 and 18. They come to live with Utopia for a number of reasons and this my include neglect and trauma. They struggle with emotions and challenging behaviour - they need care, understanding, support and stability from us so they are able to confidently take their next step in life.
**Main roles & Responsibilities**
- Ensure the safeguarding of young people living in the home
- Maintaining a safe living and working environment
- Adhere to all policies and procedures and ensure that these are followed by team members
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with young people and to help increase their self-confidence and self-worth.
- To participate in and lead the day-to-day running of the home
- Undertake shift leading duties, taking a lead role in incident response
- Undertake the role of Keyworker for a young person
- Have good working knowledge of current legislation
- Building and maintain effective working relationships with professionals from other agencies, as well as parents and families of our young people
- Participating in the staff rota system to ensure adequate staff are available at all times

This is a full time position, and you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week (which equates to 150 hours over a four week rota period) all shifts are overnight and will include some weekends and Bank Holidays.
Under the terms of the Children’s Homes Regulations, due to the ages of the young people we look after, all applicants must be at least 23 years of age.
Staff receive a Ofsted Bonus if the Home retains or exceeds a ‘Good’ rating when inspected by Ofsted.
Shift Leaders who are part of the On-Call rota receive an enhancement of £50 - £75 (depending on qualifications) per On-Call shift.
We also offer on-going training and opportunities for development.
