**Job Title**:Database Administrator
**Location**:Hybrid working with 3-days in the office.
**Salary**:£45,000 - £50,000 /year dependent on experience

**The Role**
The job requires considerable knowledge, high degree of analytical and constructive thinking to tackle a wide variety of challenging and difficult problems. The ability to deal with specialist processes and to analyse technical information is required. Thisis a highly responsible position with very little supervision. The job holder is responsible for providing first and second line support of our client’s computer systems.
The job role requires an intelligent and dedicated individual with an eye for detail. Any errors or missed deadlines may result in expense and embarrassment to our client.
**Key responsibilities are**:
- Assist in the delivery of our client’s and ITSS project plans.
- Assist projects with system and database design, implementation, support and understanding requirements set out by the Project Manager.
- Provide input into database and system designs.
- Manage, plan and implement monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual processes (e.g. Vulnerability Mgt, Database Audit processes, Capacity planning, Licence reconciliations, Database patching, Software releases and Roadmaps).
- Assist in recovering our client’s database and related systems during Disaster Recovery Tests and ensuring can continue in business in the event of a disaster itself.
- The role requires a customer focused approach. The job holder must be able to build effective working relationships with internal personnel and external organisations.
- Define and ensure our client’s critical data has suitable backup policies and scripts written and tested.
- The job requires an analytical ability together with significant interpersonal skills and an ability to perform multiple activities accurately under extreme pressure.
- Ensure releases are implemented following proven release and deployment process.
- It is important the job holder’s work is accurate due to the high level of access to our client’s core systems, as any error could result in drastic consequences resulting in downtime of tour client’s computer systems.
- Ability to take ownership for resolution of problems and to ensure that work procedures and practices are introduced or revised to progressively minimise the number of such events.
- Organising their day-to-day workload to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Resolution of Service Desk logs assigned to them.
**The skills and experience required are**:
- Ideally educated to degree level, although not essential.
- Working knowledge and experience of Oracle 12c & 19c version relational databases.
- Working knowledge and experience of MS SQL Server 2014 through to 2019 databases.
- Working knowledge of core operating systems (Microsoft Windows server 2016 onwards and Red Hat Linux).
- In-depth understanding of Oracle database related tools and techniques (OEM/Grid Control, Toad, Putty, ASM, SQL Developer, ODBC, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of MS SQL Server database related tools and techniques (SSMS, SQL Server Config Mgr / Profiler / Activity Monitor / Database ETA, etc. etc.),
- In-depth understanding of database high availability concepts for both Oracle and MS SQL Server systems (e.g. RAC, ASM, ADG, AlwaysOn High Availability, Clustering, Mirroring, Replication, Log Shipping, etc. etc.)
- Working knowledge of T-SQL and PL/SQL.
