Grounds Person

We are looking for a **Grounds Person **to support in managing the upkeep of our pitches and general training ground area in London Colney.

This will be an amazing role for someone who enjoys the outdoors and has a passion for maintaining quality grass and playing surfaces in a sporting environment. Our training pitches need to be maintained to an exceptional standard, and you could help us achieve that and go beyond.

**Your day-to-day**
- Maintaining the high standard of all grass, hedges, trees and planted areas of our training ground to ensure all areas are ready for our busy training schedule.
- Cutting and strimming the grass around our parameters, focusing on our ball stopping nets.
- Operating pedestrian and ride on grass cutters on to ensure the upkeep of our football pitches and surrounding areas.
- Watering plants and other associated areas with handheld equipment.
- Assisting in the renovation of pitches using the necessary equipment and processes, such as driving tractors and trailers as well as sand spreading.
- Supporting with the organisation of deliveries, including the manual handling of bags of sand, sand soil, fertilizer bags and seed bags ranging from 20-25kg.

**What we are looking for**
- To be qualified to NVQ level 2 or above in green keeping and groundsmanship or equivalent.
- Be experienced in being able to use a wide range of turf care equipment i.e. cylinder mowers, ride on mowers, scarification equipment, a wide range of renovation equipment, as well as hedge cutters, strimmers and all equipment associated with amenity landscapes.
- Previous experience in all aspects of grounds keeping, not only on playing surfaces but amenity landscapes as well.
- Have a good mechanical knowledge of equipment and be able to assist when necessary in jobs in and around the workshop that require being undertaken, jobs include helping blade changing fabrication and also routine maintenance of equipment.
- Have a meticulous approach to work when attention to detail is essential along with good communication skills when dealing with members of staff along with coaching staff.
