**Job Purpose**
- Supporting children and young people in the home, doing a variety of tasks and ensuring the child/young person feels safe, listened too and understood
- Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people (0-18) by delivering high quality interventions, acting as their single point of contact, co-ordinating a holistic, offer of support focusing on outcomes.
- Promote engagement of the universal offer through the community, voluntary and faith sector organisations.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- You will be working alongside Registered Managers and will support the team with the overall running of the homes, care team and children in line with OFSTED legislation.
- Assess and identify levels of risk, vulnerability and safeguarding used prescribed assessment tools, operating within agreed models and in line with agreed frameworks and protection plans ensuring that the individuals voice is captured throughout the whole assessment and intervention process.
- Deliver targeted activity working either on a 1-1 basis or in groups using a holistic approach to address the root causes in line with frameworks.
- Deliver protective, supportive and needs led plans and review in line with case management standards. The role is to ensure that all children receive appropriate care and education as required in their individualised care plans.
- Work co-operatively with colleagues and partners to share information, ensuring a joined-up approach.
- Ensure Quality Assurance Framework, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures are all central to good practice.
- Support children and young people to develop skills to enable them to carry out everything from cooking & cleaning, taking part in activities and games, managing challenging behaviours, adhering to safeguarding protocols in the home and maintaining a positive environment for the children.
**Special Conditions**
- You will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check.
- A car allowance mileage rate payable as appropriate.
- Thrive in a team environment and be flexible with the ability to work a Rota pattern. _24 hours on shift patterns_.
- Since confidential information is involved with duties of this post, the post holder will be required to always exercise discretion and to observe relevant codes of practice and legislation in relation to data protection and personal information.
- Undertake and participate in training, coaching and development activities, as appropriate.
**Essential Requirements**
- NVQ Level 3-5 in Children’s Studies, Early Years, Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Maths and English GCSE
- First aid, medication and physical intervention training certificates
- Full UK Driving License (desirable)
- At least 2 years’ experience in delivering support to children in a residential setting
- Experiences of identifying levels of risk, vulnerability and needs
- Practical and procedural knowledge of delivering support to children and young people.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a child centred approach.
- A broad knowledge of safeguarding procedures and when to implement the escalation policy.
- An ability to develop a good working relationship with colleagues and partners to deliver a co-ordinated response.
- A good working knowledge of the activities provided across the delivery points.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues which may have impact on families such as domestic violence, abuse, mental health difficulties, substance misuse, poverty, early years development and housing issues.
