**Head of IT**

Bidwells are looking for an experienced Head of IT, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer to lead on all aspects of technology delivery from innovation, implementation and operation to support Bidwells meet and exceed it's business goals.

The 20 strong IT team is made up of System Administrators, Project Managers, Business Systems Analysts, IT Security Analysts, Infrastructure Support Technicians and Service Desk Analysts. The Head of IT will be responsible for overseeing the team alongside service line managers aswell as the ongoing development and coaching of the division. Whilst this is a Senior Leadership position, we expect the successful applicant to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the day-to-day activities of the team when required.

The following technology is used at Bidwells - (experience of these isn't essential but would be desirable)

Power BI for Data Visualisation
Cyber Essential Plus

**What you'll be doing**:

- Define, agree, execute and evolve a technology strategy that supports the business strategy
- Lead, develop, coach, mentor and manage a team of c20 technical staff
- Ensure IT skills, tools, processes and capability are identified and in place to deliver Bidwells' medium - long term strategic aims
- Provide advice and guidance on technology matters to the Business Operations Group, wider leadership team and business
- Oversee the delivery of a high level of system uptime through the delivery of high-quality business systems, infrastructure design, configuration and management, continuous improvement and rigorous root cause analysis. This includes leading recovery activities for IT incidents with significant business impact
- Act as a trusted Business Partner to Bidwells Leadership and peers, influencing and guiding them to identify, form, understand and plan their technology needs
- Identify and communicate IT costs, benefits and risks associated with business initiatives
- Identify opportunities and develop business cases for IT investment
- Build, maintain and execute schedule of IT deliveries that meets business objectives and ensure that the agreed schedule is met, managing and communicating any deviations
- To identify and manage all material IT risks. Define and agree mitigation plans
- Ensure that all technical and organisational measures are taken to ensure the continued security of the technical environment and the data held within it
- Define, agree and manage against operational and capital budgets for IT expenditure
- Take ownership and drive value from key external relationships with third parties delivering IT services. Particularly hosting and wide area networks (Exponential-e) and NetSuite ERP (Oracle)

**About you**:

- Demonstrable experience of leading an IT function with experience of organising, managing and motivating technology teams to achieve results whilst growing their skills and capabilities to meet business requirement
- Track record of delivering outstanding IT service and technical project delivery
- Confident communicator with experience of managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholder and to share complex technical concepts with a non-technical audience
- Ability to identify situations where intervention in the detail is required, and the willingness to do it. Conversely, the ability to leave the detail to others when appropriate
- An open, honest and empathetic leadership style
- A healthy dislike of the status quo with a willingness to challenge how things are done
- A Commercial thinker with proven ability to balance operational risk/requirements with technology innovation
- Ability to think strategically but act pragmatically and proactively
