**Trainer / Assessor in domestic applainces on site near Birmingham**
The post-holder will join a team of lecturers and trainer/assessors who deliver apprenticeship programmes based on site
The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver engineering units for the white goods (Washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves, fridges, freezers etc) elements of the apprenticeship
Predominantly carrying out assessment of the engineering workshop, maintenance of mechanical systems, Electrical systems, theory of systems, refrigeration and other workshop disciplines as required.
**Key Accountabilities**
To attend and contribute where appropriate to the College and Technology Department staff development programme
To actively encourage participation in developing the College environment so that it promotes teaching and learning
You will manage your own caseload and will work flexibly to meet employer needs and learner requirements
To provide assessment and EPA mentoring at the Work Based locations for level 3 apprentices.
The post-holder will manage a caseload of learners per annum to meet agreed targets within set deadlines. Monitoring and recording progress of learners and work with employers to ensure learner achievements in line with contractual requirements. As necessarycomplete learner assessment and start up paperwork, including learner initial assessments, Training Needs Analysis, Individual Learning Plans and attendance records. Conduct Health & Safety checks in line with the procurement standards as appropriate and anyother relevant documentation.
To assess learners on all relevant courses through Technology Department/College and in the workplace providing portfolio building support as required. To achieve the required qualification within the time frame set.
To make positive use of e-portfolio systems where appropriate and build own skills and the skills of learners to this use.
To liaise with the Technology Department to promote all funded/full-cost employer led initiatives connected to own areas.
To liaise closely with employers and work placement providers to undertake workplace training assessments/observations on all programmes and apprenticeship initiatives connected to own area
To complete learner progress reviews in line with audit requirements and set necessary deadlines. Liaise with faculty teams, where appropriate, to ensure learner progress is fully recorded.
To contribute to good working practice in the development and implementation of policies and procedures specifically needed within any qualification undertaken.
To liaise with external agencies and awarding organisations; including attendance at internal and external meetings as required
To attend relevant directorate staff and standardisation meetings, to include any relevant training required to develop knowledge and understanding related
To perform departmental duties as required by line Manager
To undertake training and development activities to maintain own continuous professional development in line with government requirements for assessors/ trainers in FE.
Work with staff to develop possible new marketing strategies and initiatives in line with the Technology Department current strategic objectives.
Attend marketing and consultation events when required to do so.
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post
To work to the instructions of the Department Manager to carry out reasonably assigned responsibilities and duties
To participate in the quality assurance system of both Technology Department and the College
Be fully aware of College policies relating to equality; diversity and inclusion and actively promote positive practice in this respect.
Maintain awareness of the requirements of the College Health and Safety policy and to promote positive practice in respect of health and safety rules in the workplace
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children; vulnerable people and learners

Support promotional events and undertake occasional evening and weekend duties as required.

Health and safety - to be aware of own responsibilities and accountabilities in relation to the safety of students and others within the college environment to ensure that health and safety regulations are adhered to. To also demonstrate this knowledge andunderstanding within any work setting environment to protect self and others
PLEASE NOTE - This role may require some unsocial working hours to be undertaken to accommodate learner and employer need.
**Qualifications, experience and competencies**
A1 or D32/33 and TAQA qualification or working towards.
V1 or D34 or IAQ or working towards..
Relevant Occupational Qualification to Level 3 or above.
Literacy and Numeracy L2 qualifications or above or be willing to work towards.
Experience of training and assessing - especially related to Apprenticeships (both new and old) and adult learners that includes understanding how to set and mark student work.
Knowledge and experience of working within the Engineering area
An awareness of the value of equality; diversity and inclusion and be able to demonstrate a commitment to working in a non-discriminatory manner
The use of IT skills such as e-portfolio Knowledge and understanding of Every Child Matters
