We are looking to recruit Family Support Workers across Norfolk to join our new Community Assessment and Family Time Service with the aim to enable more children to remain at home safely with their families. This is such a rewarding role and you do not need experience as full training will be provided

As a Family Support Worker, you will provide supervision and support to children and their families in their own homes as part of an 8-week assessment. Working as part of the Community Assessment Team, you will safeguard children and provide families with guidance, role-modelling and support, as directed by the assessing Social Worker. You will assist parents to develop parenting skills and routines and provide practical support with day-to-day tasks and activities to prevent escalation and promote safety and wellbeing.

**Your main responsibilities will be**:

- Work on a 1 to 1 basis with parents and children to promote a stronger relationship. This could include a formal programme such as Solihull, Circle of Security and/or video interactive guidance or other relevant intervention.
- Helping parents to recognise their children’s developmental stages and raise their awareness of age-appropriate expectations of their child’s development, as well as any specific needs of their child. This would include modelling and facilitating activities in the home to enhance their child’s growth and development.
- Developing alternative strategies for parents around the behaviour of their children
- Promoting children’s healthy development.
- Practical support which could include working with the parents on the improving the home environment, basic care of the children, and other basic household management skills, i.e., budgeting, shopping, washing, and cooking.
- Promoting the parents’ links with other services in the community and empowering them to access it.
- Exploring and assessing risks and working with parents to reduce the impact of harm to the children.

You will have experience of working with families in their own home as a Nursery Nurse, Support Worker, Early Years Practitioner, Residential Support Worker, Home visiting volunteer, Family Outreach Worker or similar role.
