Erdington, United Kingdom Team Educate Full time

Team Educate are working on behalf of an excellent Alternative Provision school in Birmingham who are looking for a Deputy SENCO to provide long-term cover until January. There will be a permanent position on offer thereafter.

Are you a qualified SENCO looking for a new, dynamic working environment and a challenging new role? Are you looking to provide support for some of Birmingham's most vulnerable students, with the aim of having a direct and long-term impact? Are you seeking your first SENCO role and like the idea of working with pupils outside of mainstream education? If so, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

The role is **non-teaching**, but will require someone with QTS and previous teaching experience, and is based across multiple sites, including one day of working from the school's central office, alongside current Lead SENCOs.

The ideal SENCO for this position will have experience of supporting large numbers of pupils with Special Educational Needs and implementing strategies across a whole school or organisation. The successful SENCO will have responsibility for leading and managing the SEND and Inclusion departments across the school, and will therefore need the ability to lead a team and inspire them, along with the learners in their care.

Familiarity with the SEN Code of Practice will be vital in kickstarting this new role and making the most of the opportunity to have a demonstrable impact on the whole school, including a range of students with specific needs. Experience working in Alternative Provision is desirable, however, a positive, can-do attitude, alongside experience in supporting students with educational and behavioural needs will make you a great fit for this opportunity.

**The ideal SENCO will need**:

- Experience of implementing strategies on a whole-school basis to support students with SEND
- A thorough understanding of how best to support a range of students with multiple learning difficulties
- Strong behaviour management skills and a background in coaching students through behavioural difficulties and emotional turmoil
- Experience of managing a team of teaching support staff and liaising with teachers regarding differentiation
- Liaising with external agencies and local authorities regarding inclusion and EHCPs

**The successful SENCO will receive**:

- An exciting opportunity to secure a role at a dynamic and inclusive school
- Excellent in-house professional development opportunities and access to support from a team of seasoned educators
- A competitive daily pay rate throughout your employment, depending on your experience
- Support from an excellent team of teachers and SEND specialists who want the best for their pupils
- The ability to have a demonstrable impact on the lives of young learners in the local area
- Have a friend who may be interested in joining us? _**We offer £150 for every Teacher/Leader referral **_(terms and conditions apply)_
