We are currently recruiting for an experienced buyer to join a family run foodservice company based on the outskirts of Exeter.

As an experienced Buyer, you will be joining a premium food service provider in the South West. Having been a family-run business since 1957, this company are proud to provide the highest quality of local produce to its customer base across Devon and Cornwall. Capable enough to provide with any supply requirements, whilst maintaining the caring roots of a small, family business.

As a Buyer you are responsible for all direct and indirect sourcing across the sites products of fresh, frozen, dry, ambient and non-food. The team strive to work with the very best suppliers across Devon and Cornwall to ensure that they offer their customer base the lowest prices possible, whilst not compromising on quality.

Key activities include
- Scanning for new sources and suppliers to ensure cost effective products and quality and supply in a fast pace industry
- Competitor scanning and market analysis of prices and products on a like for like basis
- Meet, visit, assess and onboard new suppliers to support the brand and its local products
- Negotiate and implement purchasing contracts where appropriate.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant internal stakeholders across departments
- Build and maintain trusted internal and external stakeholders’ relationships, ensuring a professional and consistent approach is taken to protect their brand identity.

About you
- A good understanding of purchasing contracts, cost modelling, developing sourcing strategy, excellent negotiation.
- Experience within procurement, purchasing within foodservice (desirable)
- Able to demonstrate knowledge specifically within the food sector / industry
