Deputy Supervisor

We are looking to appoint a part time Deputy Supervisor within Women and Neonatal services based at New Cross Hospital to support and supervise on a day to day basis to ensure the areas within the unit are working efficiently.
You will work alongside your team and escalate any issues to your Line Manager or the Directorate Management Team.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form with all levels of staff within the Trust.
We require good computer skills to operate and update several IT software packages used by the Trust.
To provide training, support and guidance to new starters.
Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the service.
To be flexible in order to facilitate the demands of the service.
The two new posts are working on a rolling Rota to ensure there is consistent cover and support within the unit to all administration staff:
2 Week Rolling Rota
Week One - (15hrs per week)
Tuesday 3pm - 11pm
Sunday 12pm - 8pm
(30 Minute Break)
Week Two - (15hrs per week)
Thursday 3pm - 11pm
Saturday 12pm - 8pm
(30 Minute Break)
To supervise on a day to day basis to ensure your areas are working efficiently.

Be able to deal with difficult situations both face to face and over the telephone and also conform to the rules of confidentiality.

To be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the defined team to motivate and negotiate using tact and persuasion, when dealing with sensitive or complex issues.
To assist with ensuring that all staff are fully trained and equipped to undertake their roles, identifying any issues to the Supervisor.
To co-ordinate the rotation of clerical staff throughout the department, ensuring an efficient skill mix of the multiple tasks to be carried out including re-organisation of work to ensure that changing priorities are met.
To support the Supervisor in ensuring that all administration staff are fully trained in departmental procedures, including the operation of all computerised systems within the department.
To support the Supervisor with the implementation of procedural and policy changes which arise from the further development of the department or Trust.
To communicate effectively and with colleagues at all levels within the Trust and outside agencies always using tact and diplomacy.
To update and maintain information stored on departmental databases.
To provide statistical information and reports which are required by set deadlines.
To understand and maintain clinical management in Obstetrics.
To assist the Supervisor to ensure systems, policies and audit processes are in place to monitor and evaluate quality standards relative to the department.
To assist the Supervisor with providing relevant information for staff meetings and assist in maintaining affective communication with all staff within the department.
To ensure that good customer care is always provided.
To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend all relevant health and safety training.
To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
