**Job Title**: Domestic within a Nursing Home

**Responsible to**: Home Manager/Nurse in Charge/ Housekeeper

Hours - Thursday, Friday and Sunday 9am to 3pm

**Principal duties and responsibilities**:

- Perform the duties as directed by the management and fulfil the Willowbank’s contractual agreement with the purchaser and service user.
- To assist the manager in implementing the requirements of H&SAW Act, 1974 (including the 1992 amendments;) COSHH 2002; Food Hygiene Regulations 2006, Equality Act 2010.
- Follow the Willowbank’s “Code of Conduct.”
- Inform the management of changes in your health or circumstances, which may effect your performance or ability such as a back injury.
- Must be double vaccinated for covid as per government regulations for social care settings.

**Job Specification**: To keep Willowbank clean to a high standard under the guidance and supervision of the Home Manager, trained nursing staff and housekeeper; and to undertake other activities to assist in the running of the Home as required. **Person Specification**: The overall purpose of the domestic’s job is to ensure cleaned to a high standard and is following good practices of infection control. And also respecting the day-to-day needs of the residents upholding their **rights, choice, dignity** and **privacy**, encouraging their **independence**, thus contributing to the positive aspects of care. All staff are accountable for their own actions and omissions. All clients and visitors will be treated with respect and assisted as much as possible. Speech, dress, manner and behaviour must be professional and discrete at all times. The Health and Safety policy must be followed at all times.Standards must be maintained to promote client and public confidence in Willowbank Nursing Home.

Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Basic understanding of Infection Control

**Desirable**: Previous experience of working in as a domestic.

Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved or working towards)

Evidence of having undertaken relevant training (ie lifting and handling, health and safety,

food hygiene etc.
- To attend training such as Health and Safety on the request of your manager.
- To report and record any problems with regards potential dangers.
- To assist in the cleaning of the Home as the need arises and to support Infection control e.g. cleaning up spills immediately.
- To be resourceful in the use of supplies.
- To work at all times, within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Employee Handbook and Company Health and Safety Policy and Procedure.
- To be aware of all fire exit means of escape from the Home.
- To complete all Company Health and Safety and Fire checks as requested.
- To ensure readiness to commence work at the time stated on the Duty Rota and not to abandon duty without permission from the Home Manager or Nurse-in-charge or housekeeper.
- To adhere to the policy relating to personal appearance and the uniform policy whilst on duty.
- To read and implement the Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.
- To ensure the appropriate segregation of waste material. That it is disposed of in accordance with current legislation and Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.
- To report to the Nurse in Charge any verbal concerns or complaints raised by the service user or visitors.
- To refer all enquiries regarding the care or condition of service users to the senior nursing staff irrespective of the source of the enquiry.
- To respect the rights of service users including privacy and dignity.
- To undertake any training necessary for the completion of your duties. To be aware of Mandatory training and dates to attend training.
- To attend staff and other meetings as requested.
- To undertake any other duties as and when required.
- To abide by all company Policies and Procedures in accordance with the Staff Handbook and Policy and Procedure File.
- To report any concerns re possible abuse of service users immediately to the person in charge.
