West Sussex County Council are looking for a Project Support Officer to provide effective and efficient day to day assistance to the Project Officers.

**Salary**: £26,446 to £29,174 per annum.
**Working Pattern**: Full-time, 37 hours per week).
**Contract Length**:Permanent.
**Location**: Clapham Depot, Worthing. However, can work at other depots around the county.

As a Project Support Officer, you will provide a customer-focused service.

You will support the Ash Dieback Project Officer in the daily delivery of the Ash Dieback Action Plan. This involves ownership of diseased trees adjacent to the highway and engaging with the relevant owners to ensure that they are removed.

Alongside this you will monitor Ash dieback clearance works being undertaken by the County Council, including responding to customer enquiries.

There may also be a requirement to support other areas of Local Highway Operations from time to time.

**Experience and skills**

**Key Skills**
- Advanced analytical skills in order to understand and manipulate information in relation to services required by the client.
- Knowledge of systems, procedures and policies related to the team function.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage medium sized projects with direction.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions.
- Strong IT skills.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills in order to understand to carry out financial analysis and reporting.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Degree or HNC, or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
- Experience of working in a highways, forestry or ecological related field or equivalent area, demonstrating a good understanding of the issues, needs and priorities and able to consider this within a wider County framework. Thorough knowledge of the client/customerbase to support the delivery of services.
- Demonstrable experience of working as a competent member of a project team. Also, of working in a rapidly changing environment and of working within project management systems/practices and providing effective support.
