**The Learning Support Assistant Job**

I am looking for an experienced, dedicated and pro-active Learning Support Assistant - PMLD to join a top SEN School in Lambeth as soon as possible. I have one or possibly two positions available to start in January based in a modern and very well run SpecialNeeds School working in small classes supporting children with PMLD and other complex cognitive difficulties.

Pupils have complex learning and medical needs, most are wheelchair bound and are unable to communicate with the outside world - this means that a background in social care or nursing and some school based TA experience will be a huge advantage. You willbe expected to support them with Hoisting, Manual Handling Needs and Personal Care (feeding, changing and toileting). There will be comprehensive on the job training and lots of support both through our client schools (induction training, PECS, Makaton andTeam Teach) as well as free CPD from Reeson Education covering Safeguarding, Introduction to SEN, Phonics, Effective Listening, Behaviour Management etc.)
You will be working with students aged 5-16; all of whom have statements of Special Education Needs. Most of the children you will be working with have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. You will be working either 1:1 witha particular student or supporting a class alongside a team of fellow LSAs and the class teacher.
**The personal care duties will include**:

- PEG feeding
- Changing the students
- Feeding orally
- Helping students to brush their teeth

**Ideally, as a Learning Support Assistant you will have the following experience**:

- PMLD experience
- LSA or care experience
- SEND experience
- Experience of or willingness to undertake personal care and manual handling tasks
