On behalf of an IT Managed Services provider, I am looking to hire a IT Engineer (Hosting Systems) to support a major security and defence end client.

Location: Mostly Remote with very occasional visit to site

IR35 Status: Awaiting SDS

**You must hold a valid Security Clearance for this role**

**What will you be doing?**
- Provide specialist technical support to shipbuilder installation, integration activities and commissioning activities (included in-service refitting authorities). Understand the customer Operational Defect (OPDEF) and maintenance processes to be able toprovide specialist technical advice as required.
- Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer.
- Support the documentation of domain knowledge and able to pass on information and expertise in order to help grow the knowledge base within appropriate business teams.
- Provide technical guidance to other combat system engineers and support the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities.
- responsible for creating concise technical documentation, Infrastructure architecture diagrams, Test and evaluation reports, and Operational procedures
- Capture and agree technical requirements in accordance with company and programme processes.
- Design documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes.
- Design change requirements and documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes.
- Capture and agree input to appropriate Verification Cross-Reference Index (VCRI), Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP) and Qualification Plans.

**Skills/Experience required**:

- Proven experience with developing and testing IT solutions for the End User Compute (EUC) environment, is essential
- Ability to respond to technical queries and perform troubleshooting investigations where necessary, with full root-cause analysis and rectification plan creation, is essential.
- Developing and testing Virtual desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions, would be advantageous
- Developing hyper-v infrastructure and testing Virtual Machine solutions
- Knowledge of Infrastructure hardware (physical rack mounted equipment)
- Bill of materials analysis/management
- Any experience with administration functions within a virtualised environment
- including virtual resource management, fault-tolerance (migration, snapshots, allocation), clustering and performance monitoring, would be very beneficial.
- Administration or Orchestration tools (automation, scripting Bash, Python, PowerShell etc) is a must-have.
- Server operating system administration (Windows and Linux).
- Experience with HCI (human computer interfaces) / System Usability.
- Cabling/patching (Ethernet and Fibre), cable management, clear labelling and patch diagrams.
- Configuration and management of hardware and software.
- Design/architectures and topologies.
