We are one of the leading Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) operators in the UK with assets across five locations. Our total portfolio is capable of generating 3.3GW of power. This is enough to power around 3 million homes. We are committed to being part of the UK’s pathway to Net Zero.

Our efficient and flexible generation portfolio will complement an increased use of renewables as part of the energy mix. This will ensure security of supply to the power grid and help reduce the UK’s industrial emissions. Key assets in our portfolio are also deploying CO2 abatement programs to reduce their emissions.

We are part of Humber Zero, a project to decarbonise critical energy intensive industry in the Humber. Humber Zero is a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project on the south bank of the Humber Estuary. The large-scale decarbonisation project will remove up to 8-million tonnes per annum of CO2 at the Immingham industrial site within the next 7 years. This represents a meaningful reduction in national CO2 emissions, while protecting local jobs and supporting the region’s economy.

The company has several development projects in various stages of construction to either upgrade or decarbonise existing assets or build new assets that will enable the transition to net zero. The company now needs to expand its successful Trading Desk by hiring a Power Operator reporting into the Head of Trading.

**Job Description**:

- Nominating of physical power positions in the UK market
- Resolving of operational issues, such as trade mismatches
- Create, maintain and communicate a high-quality position summary and daily pricing exposure for the Trading team
- Compile daily profitability reports and management information enabling traders to determine how market moves are impacting their positions
- Participation in daily auctions
- Liaising with back-office to ensure physical trades are correctly reflected in internal systems
- Occasional daytime coverage during weekends and bank holidays, as part of a rota structure
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and troubleshooting as required by brokers, traders & management

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate degree with an excellent academic record, preferably in an analytical discipline
- At least 1-2yrs years in a relevant commercial role (ideally with a focus on the energy sector)
- Strong quantitative and analytical capability and comfort with Excel
- Clear understanding of accounting and valuation concepts
- Proficiency with VBA and Python would be an additional advantage
