An opportunity has arisen to become the Head of Nursing in Transplant, Renal and Urology, a complex and highly specialist directorate at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

The Head of Nursing works alongside the Clinical Director and General Manager to provide senior leadership for all of the services in the directorate (including dialysis, transplantation, nephrology, benign urology, urological cancer, stone management, urogynaecology).

The directorate operates across four acute wards at Guy’s hospital, one inpatient dialysis unit, renal assessment and day case area and six satellite renal dialysis units across southeast London, Tunbridge Wells and Guernsey.

The directorate is one of the largest kidney transplant centres in the UK and the urology teams have a significant reputation both nationally and internationally, including a growing robotic surgery practice.

Experience of working within networks and organisational boundaries amongst a variety of stakeholders will be key to this role.

To be accountable for the direct delivery of high quality nursing and midwifery care and support the Clinical Director in delivering on all other aspects of clinical care.

To have lead responsibility for the development, implementation and review of nursing and clinical policies, procedures and guidelines to support best evidence based practice.

In partnership with the Clinical Director provide professional and clinical leadership to Directorate staff

In partnership with the Clinical Director and General Manager, develop and deliver the strategy and performance management of clinical services, holding service operational management teams to account for delivery of their service objectives and performance through regular performance review meetings
