The L&D team supports Alfred H Knight and its people to achieve our business aims by having the right people with the right skills. We are responsible for the development of our L&D policies and processes, as well as supporting our managers and teams to bring them to life in practice. Our remit covers all aspects of the full development cycle, including assessment of learning needs and the design, delivery and evaluation of training. As our Apprentice Business Administrator, you will be a key part of our dynamic L&D team and will be mainly focussed on supporting managers and employees in our state of the art commercial testing laboratories.

Focussed on supporting our managers and teams in our state of the art laboratories, the purpose of the role is to ensure that all administrative aspects of the learning & development cycle are carried out in an effective and efficient manner, through a combination of their own execution of administrative activities and their support to stakeholders.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

**Desired skills**
- Strong communicator
- Good organisation skills
- Good IT skills
- Can work well independently as well as part of a team
- A second language is preferred.
- Team Player / Interpersonal: Builds and maintains positive working relationships with their own team and more widely. Able to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Systems oriented: Has shown aptitude for using systems to handle and analyse data (you don’t need experience with specific systems as you will be trained)
- Decision-making: Exercises good judgement and handles challenges in a mature way
- Communication: Confident communicator face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing and on digital platforms, both inside the organisation and when representing it
- Quality: ‘Right first time’ mindset, completes work to a high standard, continually looking for improvements and strong problem-solver
- Planning and Organisation: Takes responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, manages priorities and has time to successfully meet deadlines

**Desired qualifications**
- Essential: Five GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above including Maths and English

**Future prospects**

In our growing business, there is plenty of room to grow personal development and responsibilities beyond this Apprenticeship.

- Our Apprentice will need to attend college in Widnes for one day every two weeks during term time
