Wessex House are looking for a Support Worker to join us in supporting young people in our CAMHS Inpatient Ward. Supported by a Registered member of staff, you'll play a valuable role in the recovery of the young people, working closely with them and their families and contributing to the assessment, planning and implementation of treatment plans.
Wessex House is an innovative and interesting place to work, offering care for up to 12 young people between the age of 13 and 18 who require support for complex mental health needs.
You will contribute to the assessment, planning and implementation of treatment plans for children and young people with complex mental health needs and their families.
Working under the supervision of a registered member of staff and participating in a variety of therapeutic activities related to the service users care plans.
As a member of the team you will play a contributory role in facilitating the health and well-being of their service users.
You will be working as part of the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team, working with a recovery focused approach. His/her assessments/interventions will be a key component of the overall care plan for the young person/family.
We have a recovery focused approach on the ward and our main therapy model is Dialectical Behavioural Therapy; you will have the opportunity to learn more about this in the bespoke specialist training we offer to all team members. You will also take part in a variety of therapeutic activities with young people, related to their care plans.
The hours are worked on a rolling shift pattern which covers a 24 hour service.

- Work only under the direction and supervision of registered nursing staff, using own initiative when appropriate, in accordance with training given
- Work with a high risk client group who have severe mental health problems, dealing with severely challenging behaviour on occasions and respond to emergency situations
- Support members of the team to successfully enable the execution of the service users care program within agreed parameters
- Communicate with young people, their families and visitors referring them to the nurse in charge/keyworker where necessary, this may be by telephone
- Help to identify early signs of relapse by reviewing the service users progress with the team and ensure that the Named Nurse/Care Co-ordinator involved in the service users care is updated
- Use evidence based information to develop and deliver health promotion age appropriate activities
