**Job summary**:

We're looking for a talented and dynamic communications professional to join our new **Ministerial visits and Events** team and help deliver first-class communications.***

You will have some experience in visits and events and will be part of a team creating and overseeing opportunities to showcase the department’s work on everything from tackling economic inactivity to our £94 billion cost of living support programme.

Visits and Events will be responsible for delivering an outstanding programme that delivers for our Ministers, cements our stakeholder relationships and creates good media opportunities.

As part of this exciting role you will be expected to advise Ministers, Special Advisors and other key senior colleagues on visits and engagements, as well as develop strong relationships across the directorate, wider department across Whitehall.

**Job description**:
You will:

- Support the Senior Visits and Events Manager in our new visits team to plan, co-ordinate and deliver a strategic programme of visits and events for the Secretary of State, Ministers and other key senior colleagues
- Work closely with press office and external affairs to ensure visits and events are aligned to and deliver on the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions’ and Junior Ministers’ priorities
- Support with horizon scanning, plan visits, and ensure coordination and liaison across Ministerial teams.
- Develop your broader communications skills in digital, strategic communications, insight gathering and stakeholder engagement.
- Proactively build relationships with departmental and other colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of visits and events.
- Draft itineraries and other materials to support visits and events
- Flexibility to accommodate some overnight travel and early starts/late finishes.

**Essential Criteria**
- Must have experience of working with Senior Officials/VIPs or similar in the private/public sector, including accompanying them on visits.
- Experience in planning visits and events which have a media focus, ideally working in a communications environment
- Experience in building relationships across different teams with varying levels of seniority.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and challenges
- Excellent drafting and oral communication skills
- Political awareness, understanding of wider government agenda and propriety issues
- You will be dynamic, personable, passionate, calm under pressure, collaborative, decisive, adaptable, persuasive, creative and confident
- A team player, happy to work with, inspire and learn from colleagues in a close-knit team
