GoodPeople are recruiting a Slinger/Signaller for a long-term position on behalf of a market leading construction contractor who specialise in partition systems, ceilings and bespoke solutions.

This role will be based on a busy a construction site in the London Borough of Southwark, South East London.

**Job Summary**

As a Slinger/Signaller you are the eyes and ears of the person operating the crane. Communication with the crane operator using a series of hand signals is key to ensure the operator manoeuvres the crane is a safe and efficient way.

**Main Duties**
- Provide clear and precise hand signals or radio communication to crane operators to guide the lifting, lowering and positioning of loads safely.
- Ensure proper attachment of loads to the crane’s hook, using proper lifting gear such as slings, chains or hooks, based on load specifications.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies and industry standards to minimize risk of accidents and injuries during lift operations.
- Assess the weight and dimensions of loads to determine the appropriate lifting techniques and inform the crane operator of load capacities.
- Collaborate with crane operator and stie team to ensure the co-ordination and safe execution of lifting tasks.
- Ensure the area around the lifting operation is clear of personnel and obstacles to prevent any accidents or damage.
- Be prepared to respond promptly to any emergencies or unforeseen circumstances/situations that may arise during a lift operation
- Maintain accurate records of lifting activities including lift logs, safety assessments and incident reports.

**Essential Criteria**
- Possess a valid slinger signaller certificate in compliance with UK regulation
- Proven experience as a slinger signaller on a construction site.
- Proven experience in dealing with different lifting equipment and slinging techniques
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Possess attention to detail to ensure accurate signalling
- Proven ability to assess situations quickly and respond appropriately to unexpected challenges during lifting operations.
- Be a Southwark resident
- Eligibility to work in the UK

**Salary**: £200.00-£220.00 per day
