**The role**

The role is key to provide the Merlin data required to support operational incidents, change analytics and operational analytics for the Operational Support team and the wider change analysts within projects. The role also ensures that any changes implementedon Merlin via change cycles can be translated into the data model and impacts understood to downstream data reporting aligning data model documentation with the changes.

**What you'll be doing**
- You will become an expert in all areas of the Merlin data model, keeping up-to-date with all related business/system process and architectural changes and liaise with the technical change team as key part of the role
- Direct support of all consumers of Merlin data across change and operations for the UK
- Create urgent adhoc SQL data extracts when required
- Independently and proactively investigate perceived data issues and communicate conclusions and next steps to interested stakeholders
- Create and maintain a library of generic data queries for use as base queries, but also for use by other analysts
- Create and maintain a Merlin data model and architecture knowledgebase
- Initiate and support the basic SQL training of Business and Operations Analysts
- Build strong and productive relationships with the Merlin stakeholders, Merlin development team, technical support staff and the wider change team

**Our must haves**
- Have Microsoft SQL knowledge at an intermediate level (not developer level)
- Must aspire to be the Hiscox SME expert in the Merlin data model
- Prior experience of data architecture or relational data bases
- Be able to communicate easily and maintain a positive outlook at all times
- Be able to both strategically plan analysis and development tasks, but also be highly reactive to requests when required
- Be able to work effectively in a team or completely alone
- Experience of working in the Insurance industry (personal lines and small commercial)

**Our nice to haves**
- Be aware of how the Hiscox Retail business is structured and understand how it operates
- Basic Accounting process awareness
- Experience in Insurance back office support processes
- Prior experience of working with Sapiens IDIT or any other insurance policy Administration system
