Working as a core member of the Public Health team you will have responsibility for the overall continuing public health development of staff across professional groups. You will lead on embedding public health within clinical pathways, providing relevant public health training as required. You will be responsible for the production and delivery of a Trust wide public health training needs analysis plan in line with existing national guidance where relevant. You will be responsible for reviewing current provision, making recommendations and implementing relevant training based on these needs and guidelines.

You will act as a professional role model to maintain and develop exceptional standards. You will promote and foster a culture of education and development to improve outcomes of clinical care. You will uphold high standards of practice development.

You will work alongside other specialities and professional groups to promote and maintain education and public health development within the workforce.
- Organise, develop and lead the delivery of public health training programmes to meet the learning needs of the clinical workforce across specialities
- Supporting the implementation of the Public Health Strategy
- Act as an expert resource to colleagues by guiding practice developments, assessing competence and supporting implementation of policies
- Demonstrate a problem solving approach to all aspects of the role
- Promote a lifelong learning culture providing a high level of professional leadership for the delivery of workforce development
- Challenge practice and identify competency issues
- Support the implementation and sustainability of public health supervision
- Ensure production of transparent data and reports from the practice development team.
- Demonstrate professional leadership and uphold high standards of clinical practice

The public health team have a current base at North Tyneside Hospital. This role is trustwide with travel to all sites required.

- Deploy an innovative approach to learning and development activities
- Liaise with the Trusts Business Units to embed public health training across clinical and non-clinical teams
- Act as an expert link with staff from other areas to share knowledge, best practice and expertise
- Able to present highly complex or sensitive information to both individuals and groups
- Contribute to relevant meetings ensuring effective communication of educational initiatives and sharing best practice
- Provide complex analysis and recommendations on learning needs and plans where necessary
- Provide effective and honest feedback, which may be sensitive in nature, to staff and teams. Deploy excellent verbal communication skills to motivate staff to change practice
- Provide leadership, public health supervision, coaching and training to clinical staff
- Contribute to a climate where staff appropriately question and challenge practice and where decision-making can be openly debated and discussed
- Develop and maintain effective links with other educators both internal and external to the organisation
- Able to deal with complex facts and situations, some of which require analysis and comparison of a range of options
- Develop and implement new educational initiatives and take responsibility for evaluating the outcome
- Able to assess the performance of individual learners and teams in relation to knowledge and skills required by the training needs analysis
- Uses governance data to prioritise and act upon urgent education and development needs.
- Ability to use and teach analytical, judgmental and reasoning skills
- Manage own time efficiently, plan and prioritise appropriately and support the development of this skill in others.
- Ability to set realistic targets and meet deadlines
- Effectively plans and delivers a range of complex projects, educational programs and assessments and adjust to the needs of the trust.
- Effectively use evaluations to adjust educational programme, content and delivery
- Develop lead and co-ordinate training programmes for a variety of public health topics Ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
- Produce a robust annual Professional Development Plan for the specialty to identify priorities for education, creating a shared vision and measurable goals.
- Act as an inspirational and professional role model at all times
- Ensure that own practice demonstrates current best practice guidelines when working alongside teams to deliver care and implement developments
- Work alongside staff to facilitate learning and competency achievement as required.
- Work in collaboration with the patient experience team to ensure patient and carer involvement in educational activities
- In collaboration with the senior clinical team make effective use of patient experience data, complaints and incidents to improve the delivery of clinical care to patients
