**Brief Description**:
Provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team.

**About the role (External)**:
**Key Accountabilities**:
1. Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.

2. Manage and check the quality of work delivered and confirm surveys/on track machine works are compliant to standards.

3. Manage the preparation of work and resources, method statements and plans.

4. Prepare survey data/information for submission and accurately update systems, databases and records.

5. Undertake regular discussions and reviews of works with Engineers and Designers.

6. Manage, undertake and supervise technical tasks for survey works.

7. Manage and supervise the delivery and output of On Track Machine operations.

8. Adhere to company policies and procedures.

9. Provide technical support and guidance.

10. Undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.

11. Prioritise work arising and agree work plans for the group.

12. Prepare specifications and requisition for materials.

13. Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of survey equipment.

14. Manage and undertake checks and repairs of survey equipment.

15. Contribute to your own development and that of others.
**Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies**:
1. Knowledge and experience of technical support activities and techniques.
2. At least 2 years rail topographical survey experience ideally for both plain line and complex S&C.
3. Proficient in the use of various rail survey equipment including Total Stations (ideally Trimble or Lieca), Levels, laser gauging devices (ideally Routescan or LaserSweep), Track Measuring Devices (ideally Amberg or Gedo), Mephisto, Platform/Sixfoot/Track gauges and Hallade equipment.
4. Ability to use n4ce, Terramodel, Trimble Business Centre, Amberg, Gedo, ClearRoute, WinALC and Excel software.
5. Experience installing high accuracy survey network grids using GPS, traversing and levelling processes.
6. Competent managing On Track Machines utilising design geometry control systems such as WinALC/TGCS.
7. Skilled in setting out for track geometry control and management.
8. Ability to interpret track quality and as-built data.
9. Proficient undertaking gauge clearance surveys.
10. Knowledge and experience of latest survey and design requirements, processes and techniques.
11. Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
12. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
13. Able to coach, influence and develop others.
14. Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
16. Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
