We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and confident self-starter who can work under the direction of our Financial Controller as a Legal Aid Finance Assistant. This is a full-time hybrid role for our Brighton Office working 9.30am - 5.30pm.

The Legal Aid Finance Assistant provides crucial financial support to the Finance Team ensuring that financial operations are executed efficiently and accurately. This role involves managing financial records, processing payments, and assisting with budget management, all of which are essential for the smooth functioning of our legal aid firm.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
- Process payments, ensuring all transactions are authorised and properly documented.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing regular updates to senior management.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with the firm and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation for audits, ensuring all financial records are complete and accessible.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and the firms policies**.**:

- Provide general administrative support to the finance department and other duties as assigned**.**
- Billing and processing files
- Preparing, finalising and submitting Legal Aid Bills
- Knowledge of processing financial matters involving statutory charges
- Liaising with the relevant internal and external bodies in relation to Counsel Fees, Court fees, Process Server fees and Disbursements in a timely manner
- Dealing with internal and external queries over the telephone
- Answering and directing incoming calls including taking over the phone payments from customers
- Ad-hoc assistance with month end processes and year end audits
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Proven experience of prioritising workloads to coincide with billing requirements.
- Excellent IT Skills with proven knowledge of working with Excel
