Victim Support Scotland is looking to recruit a new Head of Communications & External Affairs into the organisation.
We are looking for a Comms and External Affairs all-rounder, who is adept at delivering highly impactful communications campaigns and strategies that put victims, witnesses and families at the centre of decision making about the future of Scotland’s justice system.
To succeed in this dynamic role, you must have strong leadership experience as well as the ability to build and sustain relationships with multiple senior stakeholders simultaneously.
As a talented and experienced leader, you will develop our communications and external affairs strategy and function, leading by example, and setting the high standards required within the department.
The role involves giving direction to and delivering on all aspects of Communications and External Affairs, including: policy and parliamentary influencing; internal & external communications; and marketing.
A trusted adviser to the senior management team, you will be able to build trust and rapport with colleagues, providing sound and robust advice on all aspects of communications including engagement with the media.
Ideally you will have been in a similar senior strategic communications role before, and will bring in your knowledge and experience of delivering strategies and campaigns that have an influence on key decision makers at a national level, as well as capturing the public’s attention.
You will also work closely with the CEO and other members of the senior leadership team to increase the profile of Victim Support Scotland, and drive positive change within the justice system based on the lived experience of coming through crime.
We are looking for someone who can act autonomously, as well as part of a wider department, showing flexibility and a positive attitude to projects and tasks.
The role is ideally suited to someone who is driven by our vision and mission and wants to make a real difference to the lives of people that have experienced crime.
Now is the time to join Victim Support Scotland as we work towards the ambitions of our 5-year plan: Empowering people affected by crime: VSS Strategy 2021-2026.
