**REPORT TO: Post 16 Transition Lead.**

**CONTRACT INFORMATION**:

- **Salary: Grade 13, £23,893 - £25,979 pro rata (£20,460 - £22,247)**:

- **37 hours a week (8.30 to 4.30 (4.00 Friday)), or similar by negotiation**

**Main Purpose of Job**:

- Support the Post 16 Transition Lead.
- Promote effective participation, enhance individual learning and raise expectations.

**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:
**Transition**:

- Through communication with external agencies and providers, secure next steps destinations for all Year 11 leavers and aid in maintaining low NEET figures.
- Liaise with local post-16 providers to ensure that students and parents have access to representatives from them at parent events.
- Support the Careers Lead with post-18 aspiration visits to universities and higher level apprenticeship providers.
- Promote open events at local post-16 providers with students and parents through use of the school portal, Google Classrooms and social media.

**Academic Mentoring**:

- Alongside Post-16 Transition Lead, meet with all students in Year 10 to establish Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) and prepare them for Year 11.
- Provide 1-to-1 support for students who require additional assistance with mental or physical wellbeing and confidence.
- Engage with parents through 1-to-1 conversations or through parent events to provide advice for parents around supporting students through exams and transition.
- Where needed, provide bespoke support for students in the form of a ‘Study Zone’ to facilitate independent study for students who do not study all options.

**Careers**:

- Alongside the Post-16 Transition Lead and the ILC Coordinator create a fully resourced Careers hub within the ILC that is accessible to all students.
- Through liaison with the Careers Lead provide opportunities for all students from Year 9 onwards to have access to impartial careers advice from a Level 6 trained Careers Advisor.
- Lead on Work Experience by securing work experience placements for all Year 10 students and visiting places of work during this week.
- Lead on the Mock Interview process for Year 10 students by liaising with post-16 providers and local businesspeople.
- Support the Careers Lead with organising ‘taster day’ visits to local post-16 providers so that all students in KS4 take part in these experiences.
- Provide administrative support to the Post-16 Transition Lead and the Careers Lead as commensurate with the post.
- Other general duties appropriate to the role and grade as directed.

**Other**
- Ensure that your involvement with students as well as other staff reflects the school’s inclusive ethos and its commitment to being a professional learning community.
- Keep up to date with developments, understand and comply with the latest information on safeguarding, related policies, data protection, confidentiality, and other relevant school practices.
- ensure that safe working practices are adopted, and a safe working environment is maintained.
- Attend and complete relevant CPD to support the role.

**Facts and Figures**:
Robert Blake School is an 11-16 Secondary School with approximately 1100 students and 140 staff. The school is expanding rapidly, and we will see student numbers increasing to a maximum of 1200 within the next few years. The school serves an area of high deprivation, with numbers of pupil premium, and SEN students well above Somerset and national averages.

The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly and proactively.

**Decision Making**:
Under overall direction from the Post 16 Transition Lead prioritises own timetable and workload, adhering to school policies at all times.

Some decisions will be taken by the post holder immediately to deal with the situation presented.

**Physical Effort and Working Conditions**:
Normal school and office working environment, with frequent and prolonged use of ICT. Working within the ILC (library).

**Contacts and Relationships**:
The post-holder is expected to develop positive relationships and effective working practices with young people and colleagues. Collaboration with external agencies and FE establishments will be a key aspect of the role and the continuation of current, and formation of new positive working relationships is crucial. The Careers Co-ordinator will be in constant contact with students and colleagues at school and will need to form and maintain trusting relationships with both, creating an environment where honest and impartial advice and guidance can be given.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
The post-holder will:

- Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 and above, including English and Mathematics.
