**About the Role**:
We are seeking a flexible, adaptable, and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Base in St Helens, this role will involve working closely with children to help reintegrate them into the classroom environment and school setting. You will play a key role in supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and able to engage with their learning.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support students with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them to reintegrate into the classroom and participate fully in school life.
- Work on a one-to-one or small group basis to provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs, helping them develop emotional regulation and social skills.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing personalised learning plans and strategies for students with SEND and SEMH.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, using de-escalation techniques and strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
- Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them build self-esteem and confidence.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure effective strategies for supporting students' reintegration and well-being.
- Support students in small group or whole-class activities, encouraging their engagement with the curriculum.
- Monitor and track students' progress, reporting on their emotional, social, and academic development.
**Essential Qualifications & Experience**:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or HLTA status.
- Significant experience working with children who have SEMH needs.
- Strong understanding of strategies to support students with SEMH and SEND, including behaviour management techniques.
- Ability to build effective relationships with students, fostering trust and respect.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach to working with children with complex needs.
**Desirable Skills**:
- Experience of reintegrating students into the classroom and school environment.
- Knowledge of relevant SEN legislation and best practices.
- Training in SEMH-related interventions or behaviour management strategies would be advantageous.
- Experience of working collaboratively with external agencies and parents to support children’s progress.
