We are looking for an Internal Auditor to join our team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be working in the Internal Audit team within the Operations department reporting to the Senior Manager Auditor, Investments.

The Internal audit team assists the Audit and Risk Committee and Executive management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the organisation. The team comprises of 13 team members, assisted by two co-source consulting firms. They perform audits relating to all of Wellcome’s activities (e.g. funded institutions, Investments, Strategy, D&T, Finance, Wellcome Collection) as well as Wellcome’s subsidiaries (Genome Research Limited, Premier Marinas, Urban & Civic and Leap) and partner institutions.

What will I be doing?

The Internal Auditor - Investments conducts risk based internal audits covering the investment activities of Wellcome Trust and its subsidiaries.

This role will allow you to work closely with Wellcome’s investment team and will also provide an opportunity to attend / observe Board and Audit Committees, including direct exposure to the Investments Leadership Team. It also includes work on non-investment related audits across Wellcome (including subsidiaries), aimed at achieving Wellcome’s mission.

As an Internal Auditor - Investments, you will be responsible for:
- Work with the team to ensure the Implementation of the Audit Plan, by undertaking assignments in a high-quality manner performing detailed planning, fieldwork, deriving preliminary audit findings and holding audit close discussions with senior management.- Provide clear and concise Audit reports with its relevant findings risks and agreed management actions. Work closely with senior colleagues in the team to develop workable operational solutions, as well as identifying and communications risk exposures and established appropriate actions to mitigate relevant risks.- Report on management’s progress in implementing management actions using relevant dashboards / reporting mechanisms. Also undertake special investigations / projects as specified by the Head of Internal Audit.- Work and help Internal Audit team in other non-audit activities such as reporting to Audit Committees, monitoring of KPIs, developing the Annual Audit Plan and evaluating the internal audit methodology and approach.- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation.

Is this job for me?

We are looking for someone:
- Experienced in working in Internal Audit within Financial Services (Asset Management and/or Investment Management desirable) ;- Qualified accountant, Internal audit qualification or similar ;- With good understanding of controls and risk management principles and great analytical skills with excellent attention to detail;- With strong commercial acumen with some level of business exposure as well ;- With strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders and ability to operate under pressure and tight deadlines;- Able to work on their own as well as part of a team, comfortable with ambiguity, flexible and agile/adaptable, and who can successfully balance the need to challenge and support the organisation.
