Full Time Foster Care for Children Aged 3-12 Years

Being a foster carer with Greater London Fostering involves taking on the enriching and rewarding role of providing a stable, nurturing, and supportive home for children who are unable to live with their biological families for a variety of reasons. As a foster carer, your role is pivotal in helping to nurture the physical, emotional, and educational wellbeing of the children placed under your care.
**You do need a spare bedroom to be a foster carer with us and be aged over 21.**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Safe and Nurturing Environment**: Provide a secure, loving, and nurturing environment where the child can thrive.
- **Support and Guidance**: Offer consistent support and guidance to help the child develop vital life skills.
- **Promoting Health and Wellbeing**: Ensure the child's health and wellbeing are looked after, including attending medical appointments.
- **Collaborative Working**: Work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including social workers and educators, to ensure the child's holistic development.
**Skills and Qualities Required**
- **Empathy and Understanding**: Display a high degree of empathy and understanding, and be capable of building strong relationships based on trust.
- **Resilience and Patience**: Be resilient and patient, capable of managing challenging behaviours while providing a stable home environment.
- **Good Communication**: Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with a range of people, including the foster child, biological family, and professionals involved in the child's care.
- **Adaptability**: Be adaptable, ready to learn and able to respond positively to the changing needs of the child.
**Training and Support**
As a foster carer for Greater London Fostering, you can expect to receive comprehensive training and support to prepare you for the various aspects of fostering. Ongoing training ensures you stay updated on the best practices in foster care.
