A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our operations department, for a Terminal Controller. This role reports to the Planning Superintendent and works alongside technical engineering and operations supervisors/planners. This a 12-hour day and night shift role, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, covering weekdays and weekends. The pattern is 2-day shifts and then 2-night shifts, followed by 4 days off and this then repeats.

The purpose of this role is to monitor and control the Landside and Shipside movements of containers and vehicles throughout the Terminal to ensure operational requirements of the shift are met, including the remote operation of ASC’s, following directions from the Control room Manager or shift manager, in accordance with the Company standards, policies and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Using the Terminal operating systems, Control and monitor the shipside and landside operations
- Liaise with Planners to ensure operations proceed in an efficient manner and Shift Managers to ensure the impact of any problem is efficiently minimized
- Communicate through voice radio, answering all incoming calls from operators and others, accurately and promptly resolving problems.
- Remotely operate ASC’s during the final landing phase of containers onto vehicles when required
- Correct and update the TOS using a camera system when containers have been mis-read at the quayside by the OCR
- Have a thorough knowledge of the Company’s operating procedures for Control and Terminal
- Attend training courses as required
- Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists, by adhering to company health, safety and environment policies, to achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation
- In addition to the duties listed above, the job holder is expected to perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the line manager from time to time

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Minimum educational level; GCSE Maths and English grade C and above, or equivalent
- Tertiary educational level or military training is an advantage
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work under sustained pressure
- Good organisational skills with attention to details
- IT literate
- Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a team
