This role sits with our Inclusive Growth and Climate Change practice, which recognises that the threats posed by climate change are global and have the potential to reverse hard-fought development gains.
Our Inclusive Growth and Climate Change team is recognised as a global leader in providing monitoring, evaluation, learning, strategy advice, and services to a diverse range of clients. Our support encompasses a range of economic development and climate change/ nature projects, these include areas such as; climate adaptation and resilience, natural resource management, nature-based solutions, oceans/ coastal adaptation, climate finance, impact investing and innovative finance, markets systems development, agriculture, private sector development, social business and supply chains, financial inclusion, infrastructure and cities and women’s economic empowerment.
**Role Overview**: As a Senior Project Officer, you will play a critical role within our Inclusive Growth and Climate Change Practice, playing a key role in leading the delivery of projects or programmes throughout their lifecycle and coordinating business development activities and supporting practice processes. You will work closely with the Commercial Practice Manager and other Senior Project Officers/Officers to ensure day-to-day continuity across the Practice. Your responsibilities will span three key areas:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Project Delivery & Commercial Expertise**:
- Provide project support to a portfolio of high-risk and complex projects.
- Perform the role of Itad Project Manager on lower-risk projects.
- Ensuring travel and security deployments in high and extreme risk countries are planned effectively with the Global Safety and Security Team.
- Monitoring and updating of project budgets, resources and workplans within the project and financial management platform - Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Collaborating with the project team to assist with project forecasting.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful commercial delivery.
- Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
- Create financial and commercial reports.
- Assist with project forecasting and client invoicing.
- Support sales and purchase invoice processes.
- Manage client and subcontractor requirements.
- Develop and implement bid pricing strategies.
- **People and Leadership**:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Support resource planning and management.
- Contribute to team briefings and company events.
- Potential line management responsibilities if the contract duration is extended.
- **Building the Practice**:
- Support business development efforts to win and deliver high-impact projects.
- Lead business improvement initiatives.
- Identify commercial excellence improvements.
- Foster opportunities to develop Quality Assurance processes.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team on systems for pipeline management and reporting.
You will possess strong project management skills and have experience in working with teams managing complex projects from proposal to completion; ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously are essential. You should also demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
As a commercially focussed professional you will be able to bring your experience of working in a commercially astute and effective way by delivering workload planning and prioritisation to a high standard in this role.
