**30 HOUR VACANCIES AVAILABLE**:
**MON-FRI (14:00-20:00)**
**MON-FRI (18:00-00:00) - with pay enhancements of 1.5x the usual hourly rate between the hours of 21:00-00:00**
**Bank holidays will be worked on a rota basis.**
**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
The Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital is looking to recruit reliable and hard-working people to join the team. As part of the HSDU unit, you will work as part of a team and be responsible for cleaning, decontaminating and sterilising surgical and endoscopy equipment. Members of the HSDU team are also required to collect and deliver surgical equipment to relevant areas within the hospital.
**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Dismantling, cleaning, decontaminating inspecting, assembling, packing and sterilizing medical/surgical instruments equipment and endoscopes to the standard required of the department and accredited bodies
- Operation of sterilizers, instrument washer/disinfectors endoscope washer/disinfectors and drying cabinets. Undertake the routine testing and maintenance of equipment and the completion of relevant documentation.
- Packaging, sealing, labelling decontamination and sterilizing of medical and surgical equipment
- Distribution of sterile instrument trays endoscopes and supplementary items to theatres, wards and departments. The collection of soiled and used equipment in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
- Report any faulty machinery or general faults to a supervisor.
- Liaise with supervisors and colleagues and exchange and receive any routine information within the department and with the user departments.
- Ensure the good manufacturing practices of the department and the quality control of the processes by which decontaminated sterile articles are produced in accordance with relevant standards, policy and procedures.
- Ensure the observation of safe working practices and maintain quality standards within the department.
