Support, Inspire, Grow: Cover Supervisor (SEMH School)

Location: Middlesbrough Area

Contract: Term-time only, 32.5 hours per week

**Salary**: £155 to £230 per day

Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to support a specialist SEMH school. This role involves leading lessons during teacher absences, keeping students engaged with pre-set work, and managing classroom behaviour calmly and consistently.

You’ll work with students aged 11-16 who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, often alongside conditions like autism or ADHD. You’ll play a vital part in helping them stay on track and feel supported in a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver lessons using provided resources, maintaining focus and participation.

Manage classroom behaviour and promote a safe, respectful learning space.

Build positive relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviours.

Monitor student progress and report outcomes to senior staff.

Support students' emotional development and promote resilience.

Communicate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and students.

Record attendance and follow school procedures for safeguarding concerns.

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or care setting.

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.

Calm, patient, and consistent under pressure.

Excellent teamwork and communication.

Desirable Skills (but not essential)

Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation/restraint training is highly desirable.

Experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural difficulties.

Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches or special education.

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
