**Cook/Chef**

If you are, I am currently recruiting for a Cook/Chef in the Norwich, Norfolk area on a part time basis of 27 hours per week although overtime opportunities are available. My client is well-established in the area and supports service users with mental healthneeds.

**Overview**
- Salary - £16 848.00 per year or £12.00 per hr
- Hours of Work - 27 hr per week.
- Area - Norwich, Norfolk

**Responsibilities**
- Developing healthy and balanced meals for the service users within the home, ensuring that they are balanced and nutritious.
- Liaising with staff and residents to get feedback from meals or to develop upcoming menu items from request.
- Being aware of the dietary, cultural, and religious backgrounds / requirements of the residents and ensuring that meals are catered around these stipulations.
- Monitoring the kitchen stock, ensuring that any required orders are placed and controlling levels to ensure that all orders are placed before an item becomes out of stock.
- Following the strict food safety guidelines on storing food, ensuring correct labels and storage guidelines are adhered to.
- Maintaining a hygienic and clean environment within the kitchen.

**Skills Required**:

- Implement and review standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen, in line with the Health and Safety Act, relevant Food Hygiene Acts and Company Procedures.
- Pro-actively maintain all kitchen equipment as per manufactures guidelines and report all faults to the Manager.
- Prepare food in accordance with menu specifications and monitor food cooking and
- presentation standards in line with the Manager and Resident’s requests.
- Ensure the Company’s stock and order system is followed on a weekly basis to avoid
- over/under stocking of food items using the Company’s nominated suppliers only.
- Ensure an adequate system is in place to check all food deliveries are correct and of good quality and that all deliveries are temperature probed, recorded, stored correctly and stock rotated.
- To maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents Care Plans.
- To take Resident’s menu choices on a daily basis from the planned menus using the
- correct Company’s menu choice form.
- Conform to the Homes food hygiene policy and in particular, critical points/hazard analysis. Personal appearance must be of an acceptable level. Uniform provided must be worn, hair covered or tied back. Sensible enclosed non-slip shoes to be worn.
- Implement the cleaning schedule for the kitchen and ensure it is adhered to as per the Food Safety Policy.
- To maintain and check first aid equipment within the kitchen.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as and when requested.
- In consultation with Senior Management and Home Manager, forward plan activities to ensure Residents are provided with an interesting and varied choice of special events in which they can join in and in turn enhance their quality of life.
- Aid the care staff when they are assisting those residents who wish to take an active part in the preparation of meals.
- To contribute and assist Senior Management in completion of the Company’s Quality Audit and to adhere to requirements requested in this procedure.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all company policies.
- Such other duties as may be required.
