We are seeking a highly fluent, professional, and dedicated Freelance Tamil Interpreter to join our network in the Manchester area. Your primary role will be to facilitate accurate and impartial communication between English-speaking service providers and Tamil-speaking individuals across various public and private sectors.

While formal qualifications and experience are highly desirable, native-level fluency in Tamil is the essential requirement.

Key Responsibilities
- **Provide Accurate Interpretation**: Deliver precise, clear, and complete interpretation between English and Tamil in a variety of settings, including face-to-face appointments, over the telephone, and via video.
- **Maintain Impartiality and Confidentiality**: Adhere strictly to professional interpreting ethics, ensuring impartiality and maintaining the absolute confidentiality of all assignment content.
- **Work Across Diverse Settings**: Interpret for appointments in sectors such as NHS/Healthcare (hospitals, GP surgeries), Local Government, Social Services, Legal/Courts, Police, and Education.
- **Professional Conduct**: Represent the company professionally at all times, including excellent time management and clear communication with booking staff and service providers.

Essential Requirements
- **Native-Level Fluency in Tamil**: Exceptional command of the Tamil language, including cultural nuances, various dialects, and a clear speaking voice.
- **Fluency in English**: Excellent spoken and comprehension skills in English.
- **Eligibility to Work in the UK**: You must have the legal right to work as a self-employed professional in the United Kingdom.
- **Professionalism**: A commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct, integrity, and client service.
- **Availability**: Must be able to travel to assignments within Manchester and surrounding Greater Manchester areas, or be reliably set up for remote interpreting (telephone/video) if required.
- **DBS Check**: A willingness to undergo or already hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check**,**as this is mandatory for working in public service settings (e.g., NHS, Social Services).

Highly Desirable (preferred) Skills & Qualifications
- **Formal Interpreting Qualification**: Holding a recognised qualification is a significant advantage, such as:

- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting **(DPSI)**:

- Certificate in Community Interpreting (Level 3 or higher)
- Any other relevant language-related degree or certification.
- **Previous Experience**: Demonstrable experience working as an interpreter, particularly within the Public Sector (e.g., Legal, Health, Local Authority settings).

**Job Types**: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
