**About the team**:
RAVIC is home to SRUC’s existing Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health (CEPH), providing world leading expertise in data science, epidemiology, animal health, infectious disease control and zoonotic disease. This team works closely with colleagues in teaching, SAC Consulting and SRUC Veterinary Services to capitalise on emerging applied funding opportunities, helping sustain rural communities and businesses by creating and retaining high value jobs.

RAVIC also forms a part of SRUC’s new Veterinary School of Medicine enabling place-based learning opportunities for the next generation of veterinarians, addressing longstanding regional employment shortages in the sector.

**About the opportunity**:
They will operate a range of laboratory equipment to carry out specified tasks and support the training of laboratory users in the correct use of equipment. The role requires flexibility, with the post holder expected to adapt their routines in response to changing workloads, circumstances, or priorities. Routine record keeping and filing will form part of the daily responsibilities, alongside supporting the development and maintenance of health and safety procedures and documentation relevant to laboratory activities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assisting the senior technician or lab manager with the effective running and day-to-day tasks associated with the CL laboratories, including housekeeping duties.
- Operating a range of laboratory equipment to undertake specified tasks and supporting staff training in the correct use of equipment.
- Amending routines to accommodate changing situations, workloads, and circumstances.
- Carrying out routine record keeping and filing.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of health and safety procedures and documentation related to laboratory activities.
- Providing technical support for collaborative projects within the CEPH research group, Veterinary Services, and commercial partners as required.
